About the event

Although an increasing number of mental health professionals have heard about inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-СВТ) (an evidence-based treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder

(OCD)); few have had the opportunity to see it in action. I-CBT is unique not only in its treatment protocol, but also in its conceptualization of OCD as a disorder of inference rather than overestimation of threat. This marked departure from traditional behavioral approaches may leave clinicians uncertain about adopting a model that also diverges fundamentally from other- long established protocols. In this session, three clinicians will provide a demonstration of three of the 12-module treatment protocol developed by Drs. Kieron O Connor and Frederick Aardema.


Learning Objectives:

By the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Explain how the I-CBT model conceptualizes OCD as a disorder of inference rather than an overestimation of threat.
