About the event

While OCD is found proportionally in individuals across different multicultural groups, cultural background can influence the expression of symptoms and the access to appropriate care. This presentation aims to guide moderate- to advanced-level mental health professionals in providing high-quality of OCD therapy for all individuals. Join presenters Thien-An Le, Ph.D. and Cali Werner, LCSW, as they outline ways to provide inclusive assessment and treatment for OCD. The presenters will discuss disparities in the access, assessment, and treatment across diverse populations and share clinical vignettes for attendees to apply strategies that respect cultural and family values when planning and implementing treatment.

Learning Objectives (Attendees will be able to):

  • Discuss 3 examples of the ways of race, ethnicity, and culture impact access to treatment and diagnosis of OCD.
  • Describe the role of cultural and family values that inform OCD treatment.
  • Apply specific strategies from a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) lens for working with clients representing at least 3 different marginalized communities with OCD.

This program is intended for clinicians with advanced clinical training, with levels of specialized OCD treatment experience in the beginner to advanced levels.
